Heras complies with the government targets and actively works on reducing its CO2 emissions. We do this by striving for profitability and continuity based on sustainability. This continuity is also a guarantee for employment in the region(s) in which Heras operates. Heras is also certified for Level 3 on the CO2 Performance Ladder (NL version). Targets have been defined to achieve further CO2 reductions. In addition, we continuously launch new initiatives, ideas and projects to make the company more sustainable. You can find everything about Heras’ policy in the policy declaration (NL version).
The total CO2 emissions of Heras in 2019 totalled 4,113 tonnes.
Heras aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 5% in 2020 compared to the reference year 2019.
In addition to the overall reduction, Heras has set scope reduction targets for the organisation and projects for which an award advantage has been obtained:
Twice a year, Heras reports the progress of the Carbon Footprint, the targets (reduction targets and otherwise) and the measures to be taken to its shareholders and stakeholders based on the following reports (NL version):
2020

The Foundation for Climate-Friendly Procurement and Business (SKAO) is responsible for the use, further development and management of the CO2 performance ladder certification scheme. As part of its certification according to the CO2 Performance Ladder, Heras sets ambitious CO2 reduction targets and defines its reduction measures.

Heras demonstrates its transparency by regularly communicating internally and externally on its own carbon footprint and ambitions, as well as on the CO2 initiatives of Heras with fellow companies, NGOs and governments. The communication activities and frequencies regarding Heras’ CO2 reduction are laid down in the Communication Plan.
The organisation publicly commits to a CO2 reduction programme of – or with – government or civil society organisations and can demonstrate that it is making a relevant contribution to an innovative CO2 reduction project. The publications of these participations can be found on the Heras page of the SKAO.
